5000

our little camera recently took it's 5000th picture!

june 20.
milpitas, ca.
all of lindsay (my sister in law) and gabe's wedding presents.
about to be unloaded & opened at brunch.

the very first photo the camera took was deleted but here's one from the first time it was used
april 4, 2009.
three lakes, wi.
we bought the camera when we went to visit a litter of puppies that ended up containing our little monster.

it's the canon powershot sd790 is. nothing fancy but it's done a great job!
it was on clearance plus we bought the display model so we got an extra 20% off! all together we paid $80.

thanks little camera for 5000 pictures. for documenting our baby puppy, years 2 & 3 of our marriage, multiple weddings, my many projects, moments with friends, and now for taking great pictures of the products in my shop!
(shameless plug alert! find this headband here.)

i'm off!

it's going to be a crazy few days! i'm spending the night at my parents' house tonight then picking up my grandma and driving to st. paul, minnesota tomorrow morning. i'll spend the day with family and then saturday morning at 9:00 am my little sister is graduating from college (what?!).

immediately after the ceremony i'll hop in a cab and head to the minneapolis st paul airport

and board a plane back to chicago.

luckily its a short flight because by 4:00 pm i need to be back in barrington for the wedding of a friend i've known since kindergarten.

i'm not yet sure how i'm getting from the airport to the wedding since brandon will be in hampshire coaching a double header and has to meet me at the church. or maybe the reception. boo.

sunday we will sleep in and go to the late service at church. i will then spend the rest of the day creating in my lil sweatshop!

i'm excited for this whirlwind of activity and plotting ways that i can take jewelry with me to work on. 15 days until taste of wheaton!

back again on monday.

new in the shop...

...and new in my repertoire! these tiny black earrings and the techniques used to make them have taken over my life!

i have seen many tutorials online for burned edge flowers...(i'm working on one right now) and decided i needed to try it out. now i am in love with this simple process!
cut circles.
hold over flame.
(burn fingers)
sew together
add something pretty in the middle.
(freshwater pearls here)

more colors coming soon
(chocolate brown, dark lavender and of course green are the closest to completion)

for now find the black ones here:

yes. that's a coffee spill in the photo. coffee stains dominate my life.

also i'm calling these earrings begonias. everyone else calls them poppies but i want to be unique! i really do think they look like begonias. or begonia hybrids.
seen here and here
